Pattern

  • N+向けの+N Noun + 向けの + noun
  • N+向けに+V Noun + 向けに + verb

Meaning and use

As in 子ども向けの番組 and 海外向けの商品, it names the people or market that the thing targets. It looks from the maker or seller's side: who it was made for.

Difference from 向き

向け is the intention of the maker (aimed at), while 向き is a natural fit (suited to). 初心者向けの本 is a book made for beginners; 初心者向きの本 is a book that suits beginners.
